Coco Model Management, a Toronto-based company, is working hard to combat trends in the modern modeling world.
The company’s mission is to represent “real” people for commercial work. As commercial companies begin to recognize a change in the modern market, the modeling world will no longer be able to rely on rail-thin models.
Brock graduate Linda Chep is currently working with the company to achieve this new ideal of beauty. Having graduated from Brock’s Popular Culture program, Chep shows how her degree has aided her work with Coco.

In late April, Coco models teamed up with the up and coming designer, Youth in Asia at FAT. Toronto’s (FAT) Alternative Arts and Fashion Week kicked off a four day multi arts festival at the Distillery District. The festival explored various artistic disciplines based in fashion and their own examination of clothing and the body in today’s time. The festival showcased the work of 200 fashion designers, visual artists, musicians, performers and dancers. The festival included tons of music by DJ Femme Normale, Elementz, hellocharlie, and Eightcubed. In terms of fashion, the festival included work by Yang Yang, Cherry Blossom, Paper People clothing, the Ryerson School of Fashion and Futurestate. In the photography, video and performance section, audiences got a glimpse of work created by Caitlin Cronenburg, Samantha Rebello, and Talia Shipman, among others.
