Anokhi Fashion Gala Follow Up

The electricity teeming through the Liberty Grand was enough to lift the chill off the cold winter night. On the evening of Friday, February 05, 2010, Toronto’s brightest and most beautiful all converged for an explosion of style and substance that would not soon be forgotten. Headlined by the likes of renowned designer Ashley Rebello and musical acts such as Imran Khan, the Anokhi Gala represented a fusion of fashion and music, all the while taking the time to celebrate excellence in the South-Asian community.
Time seemed to come to a halt as the fashion runway show was set to begin. The star of the night was clearly Ashley Rebello, a designer long known for his elegant sensibilities and eye-catching flare, talents that have earned him the title of designer to the stars. The crowd was left mesmerized by the sparkle of every sequin and the fluttering dances of every flowing garment. Congratulations go out Coco Model’s very own Andrea C. and Hernan Sanchez for their head turning performances on the runway.
Aside from the Fashion show the Anokhi Gala had amassed enough talent to promote a successful concert in its own right. Anjulie’s slick vocal stylings worked the crowd while Imran Khan made sure that the party never lost its groove. R&B act Farahri also took the stage with Toronto hip-hop icon Choclair. Those lucky enough to stick around for the VIP after party were treated to a set by DJ Kayper who laid down her signature sound on the 1’s and 2’s.
After a night of glitz and glamour with the who’s who of the Toronto fashion community people slowly spilled back out into the night with an air of excitement. The general consensus amongst the crowd was that the Anokhi Gala not only met its usual high standards of excellence, it blew them out of the water. With all the momentum carried forward from this show the only question lingering in people’s minds is what could be done to top this next year.
